Dr. Bruce Payette is presently a retired full professor of psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has his doctorate from The University of Arizona. During his long career he has been a researcher in adolescent drug use. Dr. Payette has also directed many national research projects for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Of note was his pioneering work with community coalitions and drug prevention. Dr. Payette is a founding member of the Drug Prevention Network of the Americas. This organization was founded as a result of a UN meeting of drug prevention held in Bangkok.
Currently, Dr. Payette is a counselor with Grants High School in New Mexico. There he engages in psychotherapy with adolescents. He is married and raising a fourteen year old grand daughter and preparing for a move to Tucson, Arizona.
